With the flow of Colombians fleeing the country due to the different problems that occurred in the 80s, thousands of them settled in the state of Florida for representing a Latino culture and being the cradle of the growth of Latinos for its gastronomy, culture and languages (…).

At that time there was no organization with the vision of an approach towards our compatriots, that is when a young man with 26 years took the initiative to found two organizations in order to inform and explain the rules that new immigrants had to know to start a safe process that would march with the laws of the time in order to become legal residents and have the same opportunities as other ethnic groups; such as Procolombia Unida of Broward.org and the Colombian Chamber of Commerce of Broward (CCCBroward). The latter was dedicated to help all Latinos of different ethnic groups to create small businesses and offer them in the language of Cervantes all the information for the creation of corporations, partnerships, companies, accounting systems and the respective operational licenses according to the commercial activity in which they worked.

During that decade, it was very difficult to get speakers in Spanish, which is why Mr. Soto had to study and validate his studies to be able to explain to anyone who came to the chamber of commerce to request information. For this, seminars and workshops were held in all the bookstores in Broward County, free seminars so that no one would be left without receiving this information; the work was hard and difficult, translating everything into the language of Cervantes, organizing, finding sponsors and especially bilingual professionals. Nevertheless, after much effort and sacrifice, Mr. Soto was recognized by Broward County and was the first Latino to organize events, fairs and expositions of Colombian products known as «the largest window of Colombian products».

Uncut with the support of the Colombian government. He opened a large window for the commercialization of many products that today are on the tables of many Latinos living in the United States. Not content with his work, he was the only Colombian who attended the meetings of the FTA with Colombia for an identity or organization. Thanks to his efforts and dedication, the Colombians improved to become a very active and thriving community.

The organization has more than 40 years since its creation and so with the same enthusiasm we move forward, the doors will be open to anyone who speaks the language of Cervantes or any businessman who needs their services and consulting.

Con el flujo de colombianos huyendo del país por los diferentes problemas que ocurrían en la década de los 80s, miles de ellos se establecieron en el estado de Florida por representar una cultura latina y ser cuna del crecimiento de los latinos por su gastronomía, cultura y lenguajes (…)

En esa época no existía ninguna organización con la visión de un enfoque hacia nuestros compatriotas, es allí cuando un hombre joven con 26 años tomó la iniciativa de fundar dos organizaciones con el fin de informar y explicar las reglas que los nuevos inmigrantes tenían que saber para iniciar un proceso seguro que marchara con la leyes de la época para poderse hacer como residentes legales y tuvieran las mismas oportunidades que los demás grupos étnicos; tales como Procolombia Unida of Broward.org y la Cámara de Comercio Colombiana de Broward (CCCBroward). Esta última, se dedicó a ayudar a todos los latinos de diferentes grupos étnicos a la creación de pequeños negocios y ofrecerles en el idioma de Cervantes toda la información para la creación de corporaciones, sociedades, empresas, sistemas contables y las respectivas licencias operacionales de acuerdo a la actividad comercial en la cual se desempeñaban.

Durante aquella década, era muy difícil conseguir conferencistas en lengua castellana, razón por la cual al Sr. Soto le tocó estudiar y validar sus estudios para el poder explicarle a todo aquel se presentara ante la cámara de comercio a solicitud información. Para ello, se dictaron seminarios y talleres en todas la librerías del condado de Broward, seminarios presenciales y gratuitos para que nadie se quedara sin recibir esta información;  el trabajo fue duro y difícil, traducir todo a la lengua de Cervantes, organizar, buscar patrocinadores y sobre todo profesionales bilingües. No obstante, después de mucho esfuerzo y sacrificio el señor Soto fue reconocido por el condado de Broward y fue el primer latino en hacer eventos, ferias y exposición de productos colombianos conocido como “la ventana más grande de productos colombianos”.

Sin cortar con el apoyo del gobierno de Colombia. Llegó a abrir una gran ventana para la comercialización de muchos productos que hoy están en las mesas de muchos latinos que viven en los Estados Unidos. No contento con el trabajo fue el único colombiano que asistió a las reuniones del TLC con Colombia por una identidad u organización. Gracias a su empeño y dedicación los colombianos fueron mejorando para convertirse en una comunidad muy activa y pujante.

La organización tiene más de 40 años desde su creación y así con ese mismo entusiasmo seguimos adelante, las puertas estarán abiertas a cualquier persona que hable la lengua de Cervantes o a cualquier empresario que necesites de sus servicios y consultoría.
